time speeding by

So much happens in a year.
Lives change. Beginnings and endings.
The world looks different than this time one year ago.
Things were put in motion that are vibrating, shaking and grinding
into my life now.
I am pausing to wonder what it will all look like
another year from now.

Strange is in the eye of the beholder

Some days I don't event notice
Some days life just looks a little strange
where ever I gaze.
Something is just a bit odd about
my life here.
Even in the best of times.
Which this certainly is not.

Great Expecations Notwithstanding

Feeling discouraged
life is not behaving properly
and mostly everything is not working out
the way I thought it would.

Hopefully things will make sense soon.

As the year ends.

the christmas rush is in the past.
We are home for the quiet of a big city largely empty.
New years in Japan is a cleaning out, thoughtful, peaceful holiday.
A time to pause and consider.
There is much considering to do.
There is also much tea drinking, and doggie snuggling, and loitering and
lazing around to do. While I think about the future.

Pitfalls, Potholes, and Hidden Tacks

Sometimes watching out
for hidden tacks and slippery slopes
is a full time job.

Making Sense of Senselessness

Sometimes no matter how much you want to understand why
you cannot make sense of senselessness
It is not like the movies
There is no time machine to go back and change the course
there is no sudden hero to save the day
no epiphany - just a choice in a dark, quiet moment
and then silence as the world keeps moving past

Making Strides

Lots of things are moving forward.
Slowly.
But I feel like I am getting there, step by step.
Time to focus on a few of the sticky parts.
The ones I avoid.
Time to get real.

This year is starting slow. 

Lots to do, but for now

most of it is bumping around in my head.

A bit sluggish on the outside

not a bit on the inside. 

Change of perspective

Nothing like spending a day with 5 year olds
to change your perspective on just about everything.

Staying Focused

I have a lot of hopes, plans and dreams for 2011- but they will require a lot of focus and honesty and clarity with myself. I tend to let my unchecked optimism color my decisions but I have to temper this with realism. I plan to go over some tools, ideas, and my own writing in week 2 of 2011 and take stock. Lifehacker had a good post on making your resolutions really happen.

I am happy to have my Mantra for the year, and now I have to really make some concrete steps to getting things done and making it happen! Things are in place, it is time to go-go-go. These first 10 days of the year I have stalled a bit. Progressed on some big stuff, but still dragging on some other really important things.

Time to get back on the bandwagon.
